Anti-spam
To enable spam filtering on my website, I'll first need to set up an Akismet account (it seems this plugin is there by default). In this case the support is separated into different tiers which you can see below. For this I'll be using the PERSONAL plan since I don't need anything other than spam protection at the moment and because I'm on a budget.
Optional Pricing
So Personal is really the optional pricing tier. Even though it only offers spam protection, they still ask you to name your price by dragging a slider on the payment screen. Here I'm going with $0 because I need money to live.
This changes my plan from a "commercial-license" to now a "non-commercial license" which is totally fine with me. Now they won't need my payment details and will simply take my name and website down.
Connecting Anti-spam to my website
Now to hook up and activate the anti-spam plugin, I simply take the API key that was emailed to me and manually enter it in the plugin settings.
